Valley Arts Theatre Company was the child of Company Director Ben Papworth, Artistic Director Megan Conway and Production Manager Luke Hutchinson. All three with a raw passion for the Musical Theatre world and each having vast amounts of experience in their own field.

Ben Papworth - Company Director
Ben Papworth is a Musical Director based in York, his credits include:
Jekyll & Hyde, Phantom Of The Opera, Little Shop Of Horrors (The York Orchard Theatre Company), Sweeney Todd (Pick Me
Up Theatre), Acorn Antiques The Musical (The York Musical Theatre Company), Little Shop Of Horrors, Oliver! (Stagedoor Academy) whilst also working for many other theatre companies in and around York and in London. Ben is a Peripatetic Tutor of Piano, Woodwind and Strings with many students to his name. Ben also operates his own musical arranging business and recently arranged the music for cast and Orchestra in The York Orchard Theatre Company's production of From Fame to Phantom, he is also arranging the music for Rowntree Players' Pantomime in 2016 Hunchback Of Notredame. Ben has appeared in many pit orchestras in York performing a variety of instruments in musicals such as: Cats, Sunset Boulevard, Joseph And His Technicolor Dreamcoat, West Side Story, Witches Of Eastwick, HONK!, High School Musical, Les Miserables, Cabaret and many more. His next engagements are: Spamalot, Saucy Jack And The Space Vixens, In The Heights (Pick Me Up Theatre (Musical Director)), Doctor Dolittle (New Earswick Theatre Company (Musical Director)). Ben is now the Company Director of Valley Arts Theatre Company.
Megan Conway - Artistic Director
Originally from London, Megan Conway graduated a year ago in Writing, Directing and Performance at The University of York. She has worked in all areas of theatre on different scales, including playing the role of Carlotta in Phantom of the Opera in February, and making her directing debut in July with Little Shop of Horrors with The York Orchard Theatre Company. Whilst at University she appeared in That Face, as well as providing lighting designs for Richard III and Whiplash with the University's Drama Society. With the Department of Theatre, Film and Television she worked as lighting designer for Debris and Room For Debate: Where I Lay My Head, lighting assistant for The Provoked Wife, Deputy Stage Manager for Playhouse Creatures and played the role of Madame Amelin in Les Acteurs De Bon Fui. She loves all things relating to theatre and can also be found working as Front of House Supervisor and Access Co-Ordinator at the Grand Opera House Theatre, York.
Luke Hutchinson - Production Manager
Luke has been working in the Arts all his life starting out as a musician Luke began working on his own home studio. During this time he started running sound at many shows and gigs around the Yorkshire area, working with bands and artists. With his passion for musicals he joined the Joseph Rowntree Theatre Family and began working with Lights and set, there he met York Orchard during and worked on Jekyll and Hyde, Phantom of the Opera, Little Shop of Horrors and RENT. During his time at Joseph Rowntrees he has committed over 370 hours of volunteering time. Working on well over 30 shows. Luke is now currently working at Manor School as the Audio Visual Technician. Part of his role in Valley Arts Theatre Company will be helping create and produce everything behind the scenes of the upcoming productions and helping teach the youth the technical skills he has learnt throughout his life.
